Company Profile
Richard and Vernon Emery grow soft fruits on their Hampshire farms for marketing through the Berryworld Producer Organisation. They are Tescos Natures Choice gold standard and also Assured Produce accredited growers.
During the 2008 growing season, the Company aims to grow a thousand tonnes of strawberries, mainly with the variety Elsanta and some Everbearer. Production starts in their glasshouses in the middle of April and continues in tunnels through the summer and back into glasshouses with cropping finishing in December.
Estimated production for Blackberries during 2008 is 88 tonnes, using two varieties: Lochness and Chester. All this production is grown in pots under tunnels with drip irrigation from June through to September.
Blueberry Production
During 2008 R & V Emery will have our first crop of blueberries. 10,000 bushes have been grown in a propagation area for the last two years and will be moved to their final field early in 2008, with cropping due to start during the summer.
All of the blueberries are grown in 25 litre pots under tunnels with drip irrigation.
Packhouse
All fruit production from the farms are packed in a purpose built pack house which is BRC accredited.
